How to Turn Your Social Media Time Into Sales
How many hours are you spending social media? And how much of that time is actually making you money? If your answer is something like, “Well, I think I’m getting somewhere… eventually,” you’re not alone. Trust me, I’ve surveyed enough business owners to know that 69% of them feel the same way!
But here’s the thing – all that time you spend scrolling, liking, and posting doesn’t mean much if it’s not adding zeros to your bank account. That’s right – the best metrics aren’t likes or followers (although, they’re important). The best metrics are those that translate into sales – cold, hard cash. 💸
Now, if you’re nodding along thinking, “Okay, that sounds good, but how do I actually do that?” I’ve got your back. The solution isn’t to spend even more time on social media (you don’t need to become a full-time influencer!). The trick is to work smarter, not harder.
I’m talking about a strategy that helps you get sales, even if you only have a couple hundred followers. Sounds dreamy, right? Well, it’s possible. And if you’re out here posting stock images or hiding behind generic content, it’s time to step into the spotlight! 🌟 After all, people want to buy from you, not a faceless business.
The AIDA model, which was first introduced by advertising and sales pioneer E. St. Elmo Lewis in 1898. The AIDA model stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, Action and was designed to describe the stages a consumer goes through before making a purchase decision.
Over time, marketing professionals adapted and evolved this model to fit modern digital marketing practices, leading to the more simplified funnel of Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion:
- Awareness: Where potential customers first learn about a product or service.
- Consideration: When customers evaluate the product or service as a solution to their problem.
- Conversion: When the customer makes a purchase or takes a desired action.
I have build these three fundamental steps into my coaching programs because people need a system and works and is easy to follow.
Step 1 is Awareness. Awareness is linked to PERSUASIVE messaging. You have to not only get the attention of your ideal customer, you need to persuade them that you can solves their problems and make their lives happier.
Step 2 is Consideration. So how do we move people from awareness to connecting with you? How do we deepen our connection with them? At the beginning of this phase they are most likely not ready to buy from us. The best analogy I can give is you woud’nt walk up to a person you like in a night club and propose? It’s the same thing here. Our goal in their phase is to get them to take an action which moves them closer to having a conversation with us.
Step 3 is Conversion. We have to have a plan for how we get our prospects into a scenario that we can pitch to them. If we miss this step we can get caught in what I call the “nurture trap” where we nurture and nurture but we never actually pitch. It’s also important to recognize that there is a way to pitch to people to. Last thing you want is to bring someone all through your funnel and then blow the pitch.
The most successful coaches and consultants I helped had one thing in common.
And no, it’s not having the biggest social media following, or creating content for years.
