Facebook Ads Keep Getting Rejected? Here’s Why

If you’re having problems with getting your Facebook Ads rejected, could you be “guilty” of any of the following:

  1. Using the word “OTHER”: As a general guideline, avoid using words like “other”. You can’t imply that you actually know anything about the users you’re targeting.  Using this word will get your ads rejected immediately.
  2. Asking direct questions: “Are you a busy mom with no time to make healthy meals for your family?” or “Do you suffer from diabetes?”. Ads that are excessively direct or imply that you know something about the person you are targeting generally get your ads rejected.
  3. Making any claims(even if they are true): “Tired of diets that don’t work? Want to lose weight without counting calories?” Topics that are sensitive. Weight reduction, cosmetic goods, anti-ageing, supplements… all of these are “sensitive issues” that Facebook regularly monitors.  I know this drives some brands crazy and they can’t make claims that are actually proven.
  4. Sensational words: Facebook doesn’t allow shocking, sensational or excessively violent content in ads, including the use of shocking or scary tactics to grab people’s attention. We once had a client’s ad rejected for using the word “Marching”, even though it was a charity fundraiser for a worthy cause.  In fact, not only was the ad rejected, but their account was disabled.  How incredibly annoying!
  5. Before/after content:  Facebook really doesn’t like before and after ads.  If you do want to use these, be clever with your use of language and images…
