LinkedIn Strategies for 2025: How to Get Clients & Grow Your Business

If you’re not using LinkedIn to grow your business in 2025, you’re leaving opportunities on the table. LinkedIn is the biggest professional network in the world, with over a billion users, and it’s only getting bigger.

In this episode of The Social Media Takeaway, I had the pleasure of chatting with Joe Apfelbaum, CEO of Ajax Union and a LinkedIn strategist, about how businesses and professionals can use LinkedIn to land leads, build real connections, and scale their brands.

Let’s go through them together, step by step.

1. Why Should You Pay Attention to LinkedIn?

There are billions of people scrolling away on social media, but LinkedIn is where the real business happens. It’s the go-to platform for networking, B2B marketing, and professional growth. Unlike Facebook or Instagram, where people are more in a social mode, LinkedIn is full of people with purpose—they’re there to build connections, learn, and get things done.

If you’re serious about expanding your professional network and growing your business, LinkedIn should be right up there on your priority list.

“LinkedIn is where the decision-makers are,” Joe explains. Whether you’re in B2B or B2C, your ideal clients are there.

2. How to Get Started (Even if You Feel Like an Outsider)

If LinkedIn feels intimidating, don’t worry—we all have to start somewhere. The trick? Just 15 minutes a day. That’s all it takes to get the ball rolling. Here’s where you should focus your time:

  • Log in for 15 minutes every day to engage with content.
  • Send 20 connection requests daily to strategically expand your network.
  • Engage by commenting on posts to increase visibility.
  • Optimize your profile so potential connections understand your value immediately.

“The right 1,000 LinkedIn connections can lead to six-figure opportunities,” Joe emphasizes.

3. Posting Content That Actually Works

A common mistake? Not posting enough—or posting the wrong type of content. Joe revealed that out of 1 billion LinkedIn users, only 15 million post content regularly. That’s just 1.5%! So, there’s a massive opportunity for you to stand out.

Here’s what works best:

  • Short-form video – LinkedIn has brought in a scrolling video feature (a bit like TikTok & Instagram Reels). Now’s the time to get on board!
  • Tell Your Story – People buy from people. Share your journey, lessons, and experiences. Be authentic, be real.
  • Teach Something Useful – Give your audience tips, tricks, and insights they can put to work straight away.
  • Spark Conversations – Ask questions, start discussions, and create polls that get people talking. Engagement is the name of the game.

Pro Tip: Keep LinkedIn happy—avoid putting external links in your posts. Instead, drop them in the comments so you don’t get buried by the algorithm!

5. Mastering LinkedIn Messaging

If you’re looking to turn connections into clients, DMs (Direct Messages) are where the magic happens.

Instead of sending the usual boring sales pitch, try the Curiosity Method:

  • Find a pain point your target audience struggles with.
  • Send a message that gets them curious about a solution.
  • Offer real value rather than jumping straight into a pitch.

“When you understand your prospect’s pain better than they do, they’ll trust you—and buy from you.”

LinkedIn isn’t just about collecting connections for the sake of it—it’s about building real relationships and using them to grow your business.

So, don’t be sitting on your hands—take action today: Spruce up your profile, grow your network, get involved, post, and use direct messaging. Do it consistently, and the results will come in no time.
