It was an incredibly inspirational experience for my team and I to work on the social media account of Ballina 2023 during the Joe Biden visit to Ballina in April 2023. The excitement leading up to the event was palpable, with the people of Ballina coming together to welcome their native son and the President of the United States.
We were fortunate to have front-row seats to all the action. From capturing the excitement on the streets of Ballina in the days leading up to the visit to the official speeches at Ballina Cathedral, we were able to capture it all and share it with the world in real-time. It was truly an honour to be a part of such an important moment in Ballina town’s history.
Ballina, as a town is very close to my heart. I was CEO of Ballina Chamber for 7 years and am still so passionate about its development. I could see how much it meant to the people of Ballina and Ireland as a whole. It was a moment of pride and connection, one that will be remembered for years to come.

The atmosphere in Ballina that day was electric. People of all ages and backgrounds came together to welcome Joe Biden, and the sense of community was strong. As we posted updates and photos to social media, we could see the excitement building online as well. People from all over the world were following the Ballina 2023 account, eager to see what was happening in this small town in the west of Ireland.
Working on the Ballina 2023 social media account during the Joe Biden visit taught me a lot about the power of community and the importance of storytelling. By sharing updates and photos in real-time, we were able to connect with people all over the world and show them a side of Ireland that they might not have seen before. It was an incredibly inspiring experience and one that I will never forget.

Thanks so much to all my team who worked so hard. They went the extra mile, which is our company mantra. Thanks also to Anne-Marie, Lisa, and all the team at Ballina 2023 for giving us this opportunity.
Here is a flavour of our hectic day.
